Electronic beer-mat

Two German students (from Saarbrucken) have invented an electronic beer-mat that calls automatically the barman when the glass is nearly empty :)... Proper useful research in South-West Germany !

Small game (bis)

New small game: you may have noticed that I put an icon on the left of title bar a couple of weeks ago. Where does that come from ?

By the way, nobody found how to reproduce the bug... It's done by importing a simple PNG image file in PowerPoint.

Weather :)

Just for fun, I had a look at the weatherbase web site at lunch time. In particular the average inches of precipitation per year ... What a surprise ! I've choosen 6 cities, that I've separated into two groups: the most rainy and the less ones:
group 1 (rainy)    group 2 (dry)
Nantes (F) 32 Strasbourg (F) 24.8
Manchester (GB) 35.5 York (GB) - near Hull 26.3
Nice (F) 32.4 London (GB) 29.7
Honestly, is that what you expected ?

Subsidiary question: is there another criteria that classifies the 6 cities the same way ? I can see two different answers. Clue: Bastien doesn't like hiking in the rain ;) Follow the "Comments" link below to propose your solution.

Tube notice

A nice picture sent by Karim. I don't know if it's a real one, and if it has really been written by the tube staff, but quite funny, though ...

Hyde Park Metal Jacket

When I go walking or running in Hyde Park not too early in the day, I see more and more often strange groups training there. It's always the same scheme. The trainer wears military-style trousers and carries a small backpack. Follows the group of trainees, often wearing football-like numbered tops. The trainer generally speaks very loudly or shouts at the trainees.
He gives some orders such as "20 push-ups" and then leaves, walking rather fast. When the trainees finish the exercice, they have to run to catch him up. And they get some new orders, etc ...
At the beginning I thought there were only military groups, but actually looking at them, I now really have the impression that they are not. They are so heterogenous and some of them so untrained, that I can't believe they're soldiers.

Mani pulite

I thought making soap using grease from liposuction only happens in Fight Club. An artist said he used Berlusconi's grease to make soap :) ... Is quite funny though, isn't it ?

PS: I know the post frequency has dropped last weeks. I'm sorry about that, I've nothing more interesting to write at the moment...

Kansas of Elsass

cdkansas Since I'm in UK I like even more to listen to French music. Even better is to listen to Alsatian music (from Alsace - my home region). As Kansas enjoys speaking English and said that "if you love these songs, you have to say it around you", I let you discover his particular accent.
This extract (ogg) from the intro of his album will provide you with a preview ;) ...

Housemate conversation record broken !

Yeah, I've done it ! Former record was 2 words, with "Mornin' - Mornin'". It's now 7 words ! Amazing, isn't it ? The transcript shows you the intensity of the action:

Julien: Good evening
Housemate: Hi !
I opened the door for her.
Housemate: Thank you ! (French accent maybe detected)
Julien: Your' welcome.

Yes I know, some of you will tell me that 'your' is actually 'you are' in proper English. And therefore should count for 2. But this is supposed to be a happy occasion! Let's not bicker and argue over who killed who!
